a little
about us
Twenty years ago, Richard Stokes redesigned The Starlux hotel in Wildwood, NJ. This was the start of his full-service firm, specializing in both architecture and interior design: Stokes Architecture + Design.
Stokes constructed a team who specializes in everything from ground-up rebuilds to smaller interior fit-outs. Plus, Stokes A+D has established trusted relationships between many local and nationally renowned artists, engineers, and specialty consultants who come together to share their careful research and playful insight.
Everyone plays a part in bringing a space to life. Each time Stokes A+D sets out on a project, it’s an ongoing engaged team effort with our clients that leads to a design that is the collective, holistic vision of everyone involved.

Saunders
DIRECTOR of design
Lance has been a member of Stokes Architecture’s since 2007. Not least among Lance's assets are his impeccable taste and his ability to dunk a basketball on a standard 10 foot rim. While at work, he takes on many tasks, chief of which is developing the aesthetic design of Stokes’ hospitality projects including St. Anselm in DC, Suraya, Root, Ela, Fette Sau, and all of the La Colombe cafes. He also manages many of these projects through construction.
Lance holds a Bachelors of Architecture degree from Penn State University. He also holds things in his hands, often. Such things include pencils, pens, sandwiches, and basketballs (just before dunking them on a standard 10 foot rim).
